Penelope is a movie about a girl named Penelope (Christina Ricci) who is born under a family curse that gives her the ears and nose of a pig. Her mother Jessica (Catherine O'Hara), and father Franklin (Richard E. Grant) keep her hidden from the world, interviewing potential husbands for her through the use of a two-way mirror, to hide Penelope's appearance. One suitor, Edward Humphrey Vanderman III (Simon Woods), after seeing her face, goes to the newspapers with his story of a “horrible, pig-faced monster” who tried to attack him. A reporter named Lemon (Peter Dinklage), who has a personal vendetta against the family, hires Max (James McAvoy) to pose as a suitor to try and get pictures of her for the news story.
