Seismologist, Dr. Samantha Hill (Kim Delaney), has been seeing some unnerving signs that a gigantic earthquake is about to happen along the San Andreas Fault lines. She and FEMA Director, Roy Nolan (Fred Ward), are trying to figure out how best to save the lives of the millions that will be in the disaster zone. When it finally strikes, it is magnitude 10.5. Individual groups of people are placed in jeopardy throughout California, Oregon and Washington. Governor Carla Williams (Rebecca Jenkins) is injured herself and trying to work with FEMA to save her people. The governor’s husband, Clark Williams (John Schneider) and daughter (Kaley Cuoco), are stranded in the wilderness trying to get to her. Meanwhile, Dr. Hill studies the continuing quakes and discovers that unbelievable and extremely deadly events are about to occur and she has to advise FEMA on how best to save as many as they can.
